COMPANY OVERVIEW The primary focus of GCA is to serve as an investment advisor and General Partner to four private equity funds.  GCA also provides consulting advisory services to select clients. S.C.O.U.T. Healthcare Fund, L.P.- The S.C.O.U.T. (Southeastern Commercialization of University Technologies) Healthcare Fund is an $18,000,000 regional venture capital fund focusing on investments in healthcare and life sciences companies. The fund focuses on growth-stage, late-stage and mezzanine deals. While the majority of our investments are in Alabama, we do place money in select projects throughout the southeast. We have an established network of co-investment partners who share our regional philosophy and participate accordingly. We provide significant operational and networking support to help our companies succeed.  Birmingham Technology Fund, LLC -  The Birmingham Technology Fund, is a $21,900,000 venture capital fund specializing in privately held companies that are commercializing technologies developed at various of the academic and other research institutions in the State of Alabama, with a primary focus on medical and life sciences technology developed at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  The fund may also invest a portion of its assets with other venture capital funds in similar ventures outside of the State of Alabama.                                                                                                          CAPCO/Whitecap Alabama Growth Fund I, L.L.C.-  Whitecap Alabama is a "Certified Capital Company" fund established by and managed in conjunction with GCA.  The CAPCO program was enacted by the Alabama Legislature in 2002 and is administered by the Alabama Development Office.  The Fund will make equity and debt investments in Alabama-based companies which meet the qualifications outlined in the Act.
